Fried bakes are a caribbean staple breakfast, or snack. Usually stuffed with various fillings such as saltfish, cheese paste, smoked herring or corned beef.
Ingredients
All purpose flour (1 cup)
Baking powder (1 tsp)
Salt (pinch)
Sugar (1 tbsp)
Water (½ cup)
Method
Mix dry ingridents together
Mix in water till it forms a smooth dough
Let sit for 20-30 minutes
Divide into 4-8 portions (depending on desired size, I prefer 8)
flatten by pushing into round discs with fingers, flip do the same
Heat neutral oil with high smoking point to 350 celcius - 375 celcius
Gently place uncooked bakes in the hot oil, about 1-2 minutes per side
Remove into a dish with paper towels to soak up oil.
